The People Behind Red Earth Restoration

Red Earth Restoration was incorporated in PEI in 2026 by Brandon Bernard and Becky Bryne. The company is new, while the work behind it reaches back much further.

Together, Brandon and Becky connect a working native plant nursery with horticulture, ecological landscaping and restoration. Their approach begins with the site and plants suited to its conditions.

Co-owner

Brandon is a co-owner and hands-on operator at Red Earth Restoration. His work includes native plants, nursery systems and practical fieldwork, along with helping move projects and the day-to-day business forward.

His background includes native plant propagation and work connected with Macphail Woods. Brandon views the nursery as part of the habitat around it: the plants are part of a living site, where insects, birds and other wildlife use what grows there.

Co-owner

Becky is a co-owner of Red Earth Restoration and brings roughly three decades of closely related nursery, native plant and landscaping work to the company. Her experience includes nursery management, seed work, plant propagation, site assessments, hand-drawn planting plans, native planting, shoreline work and training students in the field.

Much of that experience was developed through her work at Macphail Woods. Becky describes her knowledge carefully: she knows botany, but does not call herself a botanist. Her work is practical and site-led, beginning with what is already growing and what the property needs.

Native plants and the habitat around them

Red Earth's work is centred on PEI native plants and the habitat around them. The aim is a planting that looks good, suits the site and supports the insects and birds that use it.

Brandon and Becky expect a planting to change with the seasons. Leaves fall and move, conditions shift, and insects and wildlife make use of what grows there.
